This day contained some discouraged women in difficult situations. Nothing I could fix. Sometimes I don’t even know how to listen well. But I DO know this … God is in control. Might not seem like it, but it’s what we have to hold on to at the end of the day. Things don’t need to make sense to me. I need to remember that God is in control. Here's the deal ... as crazy as it may sound, it was at least this crazy in Old Testament times. So what? Here's what. All through the craziness of the OT there were faithful people here and there, and their lives mattered. Seriously ... Joseph got sold by his brothers into slavery in Egypt ... AWFUL! Where was God? But he lived in integrity and in time we see that Joseph being in Egypt and staying faithful in the awful times is exactly what saved his entire family, which was a fledgling nation of Israel. God has his long-term plans. Ladies, I want to encourage you to be faithful in the little things, not because it’s easy or makes you look good, but because God is in control. Even when things seem to be going very wrong. The BIG story, when it is all known, will be filled with heroes who raised godly children (or tried), helped homeless folks, shared a truthful word … people who stood for something. God knows. It might be me ... it might be you. Our lives matter. Even on our worst days, our lives matter. Tonight I pray for my own kids, for those of you who have shared special moments of my life, and those of you I don't know well … you matter. Don't forget that. This day is all you have to work with. Do it faithfully, knowing that it’s your integrity, not your performance, that matters. I love you each and pray that you will realize how much you matter. -jan
